Important Facts about Medical Marijuana Laws

Many countries like Canada, Austria, the Netherlands, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Finland, Israel, and Italy have already legalized the use of medical marijuana or cannabis for therapeutic purposes only. In the United States, 14 states have already legalized the use of cannabis. Also just recently, last November 2010, the Arizona passed a law legalizing the use of medical marijuana making it the fifteenth.
However, before a patient can use medical marijuana, one must first get an identification card. Eligible patients must have a chronic or life threatening disease in order to be qualified for the treatment. Remember that not all diseases may indicate the use of medical marijuana. The patient should have a written recommendation from a licensed medical doctor. The doctor should include the reasons for the treatment and must also affix his or her signature. Once your documents are complete, you may now apply for a medical identification card in a state-specified department.
A lot of debates are still ongoing regarding the legalization of the medical marijuana in Arizona most especially about driving under the influence of the drug. Law-makers fear that the identification card holders may violate and exploit the opportunity given to them and might use medical marijuana aside from the medical purpose allowed by the law. This issue must be resolved and clarified immediately by the law-makers. Medical marijuana if used properly is proven to be advantageous but if abused, cannabis can be detrimental.
Moreover, in setting up a medical marijuana dispensary business, their registration should be non profit. Other states such as dispensaries in Colorado may not do so. Legal documents should also be presented upon application. Medical dispensaries should only distribute cannabis to qualified patients that posses a medical marijuana identification card and to registered caregivers. Otherwise, if not properly followed, then distribution of medical marijuana is considered illegal and may be punishable by law if proven guilty. Also, Dispensaries in Colorado as well as some states does not accept identification cards for marijuana use from other states. Be sure to use medical marijuana only within the state parameters.

California is the first state to pass a law promulgating the use of medical marijuana legal under very stringent process and strictly specified drafting of the Medical Marijuana Prop 215 also called the Compassionate User Act (CUA) of 1996. The law approves the use, possession, growing and cultivating marijuana among qualified patients and their primary caregivers if they present a registry card coming from the state. Senate Bill 420 permits patients to form collectives or cooperatives. Qualified patients who conform to state regulations are lifted from criminal liabilities and protected from arrests.
Under the Medical Marijuana Prop 215, qualified patients are only allowed to grow marijuana depending on their personal use; or not more than six matured (or 12 immature plants) and not more than eight ounces of the processed drug. Other cities and countries may set their limits but not higher than the aforementioned maximum amount. Moreover, patients who acquire marijuana exceeding the amount as stated in prop. 215 will not be prosecuted immediately but will be allowed to defend themselves.
There are many people who get confused with the term “caregiver” as per used in medical marijuana issue. A caregiver, as defined is a person assigned by the qualified patient who will consistently assume responsibility for “housing, health, or safety” of the said patient. As further specified by court rulings, caregivers must offer other services aside from providing medical marijuana to the patient.
For a patient to be qualified, he or she should have a registry card that is issued by a department specified by the state. A requirement for application is a written recommendation from a physician or any specialist that is licensed to practice in California. The state provides a complete list of registered physicians. These physicians should specifically write the words “recommend” or/and “approve”. Under the Conant U.S. court decision, doctors are protected from federal actions.

The Truth About Legal Highs

With the increasing popularity of legal highs, some people are getting curious about their nature, benefits, availability, and affordability. Most people have false beliefs concerning legal highs. These misconceptions have prevented some individuals in enjoying the health benefits that legal highs can give.
Legal highs are more potent than illegal drugs such as cocaine or ecstasy. Its herbal components can also give the same powerful punch. The only advantage is that they do not produce negative side effects.
Legal highs will not bring sellers and buyers into jail. They are not banned by the government. The users just have to be sure that they are really using legal products because some drugs and herbal products have been branded legal though they are not.
A user also has to know if he can withstand the effects of herbal legal highs. Some products really give powerful hits and the effects are immediate. Starting out in smaller amounts is highly recommended. Consumption can then be increased. It is also not good to mix them with substances like medications, drugs, and alcohol.
Alcohol is a depressant that slows down the nervous system. Mixing alcohol with any drug as well as legal highs is not advisable. The combination can totally upset the body’s systems.
Legal highs come from botanical sources which are proven to be safe for the human body. Unlike illegal drugs and other intoxicating substances, they are cheaper and more mass-produced. They are easily available even in the Internet. Since they are already legal, users do not have to dodge police raids. The supply is easier and faster.
Legal highs are also pure. Illegal drugs are mixed with all sorts of synthetic chemicals to stretch out its stock in order to meet their demand in the black market. Although legal highs have pure ingredients, users are still not advised to take more than needed.
There is no recommended dose for herbal highs. To get some idea on their potent effects, user has to initially consume small amounts. If his body gets used to the products, he can increase his consumption. What works with one person may not work with another user.
Some legal highs are now being imitated by illegal manufacturers in order to deceive consumers. One should be wise in identifying illegal products from legal ones.
To be 100% sure that the users get the authentic products, there are reputable retailers found online. The products are also more affordable.

Last November 2010, Arizona became the 15th state in the United States that passed a law legalizing the use of medical marijuana. However, due to its newness, the law seems to have some imperfections to clear. Court hearings are still ongoing about its implications. While it is still ongoing, qualified patients and caregivers can already get medical marijuana Arizona in the state. The following are some of the facts:
Qualified patients and primary caregivers are obliged to submit their thumbprint to the law enforcement agency and must sign an agreement that they will not utilize the drug other than personal use otherwise they will be held liable. Fingerprint is not required in Oregon.
Sharing of marijuana to other qualified patients and caregivers are allowed for as long as they do not go beyond the recommended amount of 2.5 ounces.
You can only get medical marijuana Arizona from a registered or licensed medical marijuana dispensary. There is also non-profit medical marijuana dispensary. No systems exist in Oregon.
If a dispensary exists within a 25 miles radius from where you reside, then growing and cultivating personal marijuana is not allowed. Patients in Oregon are allowed to plant medical marijuana wherever they live.
Possession of medical marijuana by patients on a school bus, school or any correctional facility should be avoided. Possession of medical marijuana in Oregon is only restricted at the correctional facilities.
Smoking of medical marijuana in public places or in any public transportation vehicle is not allowed.
Intoxication of medical marijuana while driving should be avoided.
Medical marijuana dispensaries may cultivate and grow medical marijuana onsite or in a separate location. No dispensary system exists in Oregon but they can cultivate and grow marijuana wherever they reside.
Giving of marijuana by the patient and caregiver to dispensaries are allowed except that it should not have any compensation value.

Proposition 203 has been passed in Arizona on the 2nd of November, 2010. This means that as of January 2011, it is highly doubtful that there are already existing dispensaries that hand out medical marijuana Arizona. Why? Because the law takes effect four months after its publication and the Arizona Department of Health Services should also come up with the regulatory guidelines and implementing procedures first.

Today I want to talk about the source of all the enrichment that will come from having an unbelievable experience of growing marjuana outdoors; the seed. The present understanding of marijuana suggests there are approximately 450 different seed varieties on the cannabis market today. Out of this number of seed varieties, around 200 are worth looking and about a quarter of those are of an incredible high standard. There are two types of seed strains and they are; 1. pure species type (taking two plants of the same species and crossing them, 2. crossbreed of two or more species (taking two plants of different species and crossing them).
FINDING SEEDS
The majority of hybrid (crossbreed) seeds are not sort after at all on the market due to the nature of melding species together over time which creates unstable potential for quality growth. The best way of obtaining seeds is from a friend who has grown a plant that you have enjoyed the effect of. This way the seeds will usually be free of charge and you know before hand what the high of the plant will be as different strains of marijuana can create a varying of highs. A strong seed can bring into being incredible vigor in the offspring produced and really accelerate your experience and satisfaction of growing marijuana outdoors.
Another way of getting your hands on good quality seeds is through internet seed banks. This is the next best way if you cannot find any seeds through friends but be warned there are a few issues that can arise by using this method. Problems such as being ripped off financially, seed’s being misrepresented and the restriction of worldwide shipping can throw you into an unsightly spin. If you were to buy seeds via an internet seed bank be sure to find relevant customer feedback on their products either through the seed bank’s website or, even better, through an independent forum where opinions are more reputable and honest.
WHAT TO LOOK OUT FOR
When you have decided which route you will receive your seeds through it is now time to know what to look for when purchasing a great quality seed. Good marijuana can simply not be harvested from a poor seed and will only frustrate you in your learning of how to grow weed. Although it isn’t essential, it is recommended to obtain a seed that its breeder has cultivated that aligns with your intentional use. Are you planning to grow your weed inside or outside? Many breeders specialize their seeds in either one of these.
Another thing to look for is whether the seed is feminized. Feminized seeds produce all female plants which is desirable since in regular seed only about half are females. You will want an all female crop in order to prevent pollination and grow weed that is much more potent. Since only the female plants are desired half of the seeds you purchase will be wasted with regular seeds. It will also leave empty space in your grow area.
Marijuana seeds usually remain viable to use for about two years after they have been produced by a female plant. It is even said to be true that some seeds will even last up to five years given they a kept under ideal conditions. The best way to keep them in a healthy state for as long as possible is to store them in an area that is cool, dark and dry until they are ready to be germinated.
